Deane Minor began his career as a private practitioner in 1984 alongside Tom Tuohy, with whom he worked for 24 years. In the first decade of their partnership, Deane worked in family law, estate planning and settlement, and adoption law. While in partnership with Tom, Deane diversified his practice to include real estate and business law, which were two areas in which Tom worked extensively. After Tom passed away in 2007, Deane and Kara Kruse began sharing office space and collaborating on projects. On April 1, 2008, Deane and Kara formed the Everett law firm of Tuohy Minor Kruse PLLC, including Tom’s surname in his memory.
Before forming Tuohy Minor Kruse, Kara practiced law in Spokane, worked in Indian gaming law in California, and ran a solo practice in Everett from 1997 to 2007. Renee DeFreece has worked with Deane and Kara since the start of Tuohy Minor Kruse PLLC. Melanie Griffin joined the firm in fall 2011 after having worked on several cases with Tuohy Minor Kruse.
The four partners brought on associates Shannon Marsh in 2019. Plus, the firm has a paralegal and administrative support staff of knowledgeable, driven people. The firm focuses on civil litigation—including family law, adoption, legal separations, divorce, property division, parenting plans, custody, and child support—as well as estate planning and settlement, guardianships, business law, and real estate.
